Don’t Forget To Be Awesome

I spent some time today looking for widgets, 6 months ago I wasn’t actually totally sure I knew what a widget was, in fact I never ever thought that I would be writing a blog, be on Facebook and have a twitter account. Without us actually being aware, life continually scoops us up and takes us on some odd and amazing journeys.

The day that I held in my arms for the first time my beautiful, perfect child and I was told I had a daughter. Nappies, bottles, prams, grip water, changing pads and a love I had never known before. I became the teacher whilst being taught all at the same time. Caring and protecting the most important thing on the planet, new life, life that had the potential to change not just my journey, but everyone’s.

Or the day that I found myself standing under the bridge on my way home from a nightclub trying to get rid of a totally gorgeous, but far too young man, that I had met that night. Arguing and laughing for an hour over him walking me home. Agreeing to a date, then another and another. Getting married and buying our first home.

When the doctor sat on the edge of my bed the day after they had attacked my spine with needles, bombarded my eyes with lights and spinning shaped, scanned my brain and questioned me to death. I knew that my life was going to change and I was truly stepping into a new world. I learned about lesions, medications, dexterity exercises, memory tools, spams, walking aids, wheelchairs and so much more.

As a child I never knew what I wanted to do with my life, I had no plans like some and even back then seemed to accept what ever arrived and what ever I had to do. I can actually say 100% that I never thought that I would have seen so much, learned so much, felt and experienced so much. I thought life was simple and would be an adventure, although then I think I was looking more at the dream world we all expect without mortgages and having to work.

I remember a friend of mine from many years ago, he had a saying which I now think is one of the few things that applies to everything, no matter what journey we are on at the time. Instead of saying goodbye he always said “Be good and if you can’t be good, be perfect”, it had the added flare that only an effeminate gay man can add, but he was right. So now my journey is to sit here and learn about widgets and social media, OK I can live with that, but where is it taking me?

  1. I keep my widgets down to an absolute minimum – I find that the more there is on a page, the more there is to go wrong and the more confusing it gets. e.g. just to the left of where I am typing now it says:

    “No data received
Unable to load the web page because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this web page later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data”

This is probably some sort of minor “glitch”.

  2. Been blogging for years, I don’t do widgets for reasons seaside man has stated, or Twitter for the sake of my sanity.

But I know what you mean about life, it’s great isn’t it?

  3. Errr….. Oops….. sorry that was probably my fault I was still playing at that point and kept removing and replacing them. I think over yesterday I tried out about 50 odd until settling with the ones now here. They may change again, just depends what I find:)
